How many of you came out to support Fur Kids Foundation in December to take some holiday pictures with Santa Claus, the Grinch, Olaf, and a Campbell County Fireman last year? Well, half of that money went to FKF to help families pay for unexpected veterinary care while the other half went to the Campbell County Fire Department to help them raise money so they could buy bikes to easily get in and out of traffic during busy events. We’re proud to announce that the CCFD debuted their Bike Patrol Unit at the Fourth of July festivities!
The funds for this program came entirely from the sponsorships from businesses, and the fundraiser you attended. These bikes will allow Firemen, like Lt. Dan Smith (who some of you may have posed with), to get to emergencies in a more timely manner than one could in an ambulance or on foot while navigating through crowds of people. This program also allows further public education to adults and children alike of bike safety and the importance of use of helmets and more. The CCFD Bike Patrol Unit will train with Gillette PD Bike Patrol Unit covering bike nomenclature, fitting the bike, basic repairs, slow speed operations, using bike as a protective barrier, etc. Each bike carries medical supplies and a fire extinguisher. Other businesses who supported this program include: • Cloud Peak Energy • Custom Graphix • Dean's Field Service and Welding Inc. • First National Bank of Gillette • Scheels • Synergy Dental Center • Windshield Paramedic Give yourself a scratch on your back for being so paw-some and supporting your community!
