Dogs are highly prone to ear infections because of the shape of their ear canal. While helicopter ears (head shaking) is a telltale sign of an ear infection, according to the AKC, so are:
Ear infections are usually caused by bacteria, yeast, or a combination of the two; however, ear mites can also be a source of infection. If your dog shows signs of an ear infection, it’s important to get treatment by a veterinarian immediately so the problem does not become serious.
