Dogs can develop styes just like humans do, both on the inner and outer side of the eyelid. According to Wag, a stye may present with the following symptoms: Dude’s bad teeth are what many vets refer to as periodontal disease or periodontitis. According to Small Door Veterinary, this is a common issue for dogs that is caused by the accumulation of dental plaque and tartar on the teeth, which triggers inflammation. This can result in gum infections, bone loss, and the loss of teeth and other serious health problems. Periodontal disease is broken down into four stages, and unfortunately for Dude, he was a stage four—which means he was in the most advanced stage and that his teeth would need to be removed.
